The Rooms of a Mansion
Jane Worthington asked:
If you could have your dream home, how large would it be? People living in tight quarters now might just wish to own a mansion! These large homes are always the envy of people throughout the world. The first mansions were, of course, beautiful castles. It is incredibly romantic to imagine unnamed kings and queens, prices and princesses, and all the other courtiers waltzing around in the giant ballrooms and enjoying stately meals in the large dining rooms. Today’s mansions reflect the older architectural style of Europe. The gray stone exteriors, the large doors, and winding driveways are all reminiscent of 17th and 18th century Europe.
If you ever have a chance to tour some twentieth century American mansions, you will be amazed. One large home is not as popular as they used to be. Today, it is more common to see compounds, where there are several large homes on a single piece of property often belonging one family. Regardless of the design, these large estates have several rooms. When the average American home has only four or five rooms, can you imagine what one can possibly do with fifty to sixty rooms?
Modern mansion designers and architects work hard to integrate the most up-to-date luxuries into these beautiful estates. Most have a large cinema room, work out facilities, infinity pools, and large libraries/office spaces. A new addition to these modern homes is a sauna room. Saunas have slowly gained popularity in the United States in recent years because their numerous health benefits have become better understood on this side of the Atlantic. Since using a sauna is incredibly relaxing, you feel mentally rejuvenated and your skin feels younger and healthier after repeated use in a sauna suit.
Other mansion amenities are not only on the inside, however. Many of these estates also have beautiful tennis courts, gardens, and fountains throughout the expansive mansion grounds. Maintaining the house, the furniture inside it, and the grounds is the full time job of several people, many of whom even live in the mansions themselves. Mansion upkeep is hard work but, when done correctly, the result is a house in which we would all love to live!
Although most us cannot afford a home of this size, we can still incorporate a few mansion-qualities into our own homes. Home saunas are not out of your price range! Good luck bringing a little luxury into your life!
